Mt Evelyn Bendigo Bank Supports Major Community Initiative
Mount Evelyn Bendigo Bank have announced a major grant of $250,000 toward the fit-out of the new sport and community pavilion at the Mount Evelyn reserve.
“This project is the biggest community facility to be built in Mount Evelyn in recent times and the Bank wanted to ensure the fit-out and facilities were of the highest standard for the community groups that will be using it,” said John Stroud, Community Bank Chairman.
“We are proud to be part of history in creating a building that a range of community groups and recreational users will benefit from,” said Mr Stroud.
“The increased use of the reserve with the inclusion of women’s and children’s sport in recent years, will be positive factors in keeping our community active, healthy and connected,” said Mr Stroud.
We applaud the work carried out by Mal Darke and the MESCH team in making the project come to reality at the community level by working with the various stakeholders. We also want to acknowledge Bryan McCarthy for his work and drive on the MESCH team , sadly Bryan passed away recently and we offer our condolences to his family.
The announcement was made on Thursday 1 December, with a gathering of community groups, senior and junior players , parents , supporters and representatives from various groups including MESCH (Mt Evelyn Sports & Community Hub), Yarra Ranges Council, Local Sports clubs, Mt Evelyn Community House and staff & directors from Mt Evelyn Bendigo Community Bank.

The pavilion will provide toilets for public users and a meeting and training space for use by other community groups in the area. The support of our major partners like the Mt Evelyn Bendigo Bank, has meant this project has been able to be delivered as a state-of-the-art facility for our community, and we thank John, David and the team sincerely.”
